GRAND RAPIDS, MI., March 15, 2017 – The rosters are announced today for the ADDIX Basketball Champions All-Star Games at Davenport University on Wednesday, March 29. Game Director Steve Project and his committee compiled both sets of rosters for the boys and girls. The games are presented by sponsors D & W and Family Fare and ESPN 96.1 FM.
Selections of the top senior players — men and women from MAC, WHAC, MIAA, and the GLIAC — were made and will feature some of the best small college talent in the USA. Women will tip off at 6pm; Men’s game at 7:30pm
These all-star games were started in 2007 by Steve Project and were an extension of the TA WA SI All-Star Games that began in 1973 by Herman Green Jr. and Granville Brown. Project worked the TA WA SI group starting in 1988-2005. TA WA SI is an Indian name meaning “Friend and Helper.” Green played on the Ottawa Hills Indians State Championship basketball teams in 1968 and 1969. Steve then collaborated with Pete Rusticus to re-launch under the name of Champions of Character in 2007. Rusticus was the VP of Sales for the GR Hoops where Project served as General Manager in 2000 and 2001 at the Delta Plex. Rusticus (Athletic Sponsorships and Fund Development) and Project (Associate Department Chair/Sports Professor) now both work for Davenport University.
Tickets are $10 for adults; $5 for kids and families pay a flat rate of $20. College students with ID get free admission.
There will be $1 Pepsi, $2 Hot Dogs, $1 Popcorn, too!
A unique event utilizing Davenport personnel ,the goal is to raise $3,000-5000 in support of Davenport Athletics and the Make A Wish Foundation, an NCAA Division 2 partnership.
Our new Title Sponsor is ADDIX ATHLETIC GEAR. Addixgear.com.
Official Game Sponsors include Farmers Insurance, Celebration Cinemas, J & H Family Stores, Michigan Basketball Academy, Pepsi and Buiten Insurance and super agent Rod Hathaway. Media sponsors are ESPN 96.1 and Wood Radio.
